About this tool
Square meters and Ping: try 100 m²
Select Square Meter and enter 100: the Ping result is 30.25. To convert back, select Ping and enter 30.25. This tool uses 1 Ping = 400/121 m²; 3.3058 is a rounded shortcut, so using it by hand may give a slightly different result.
Hectares and acres are different sizes
Enter 1 hectare: it equals 10,000 m², or about 2.471054 acres. Enter 1 acre: it equals 4,046.8564224 m², or about 0.404686 hectares. This tool uses the international foot for imperial units, not the former U.S. survey foot; check the unit definition when reading older survey records.
Area conversion squares the length factor
1 m = 100 cm, but 1 m² = 100 × 100 = 10,000 cm², not 100 cm². Likewise, 1 m² is about 10.76391 ft², not 3.28084 ft². Try entering 1 in Square Meter and compare the square-centimeter and square-foot rows.
Calculate the area before converting its unit
This tool converts an area you already know; it does not calculate it from length and width. For a rectangle 4 m long and 3 m wide, calculate 4 × 3 = 12 m² first, then enter 12 in Square Meter: the result is 3.63 Ping. Enter a nonnegative number using a decimal point, without thousands separators or a multiplication expression.
