About Country Data Compare
A small comparison, not a full data portal
The tool intentionally limits each view to 2–4 countries and curated indicator packs. It is made for quick background checks, travel or relocation research, school notes, and shareable context cards rather than advanced data analysis.
Check the years before comparing values
The latest comparison keeps the most recent available year for each country's value, so years may differ. Each indicator's trend covers ten consecutive years ending at its latest available year. The trend charts share a year selector, but the indicators' windows can differ. Missing values stay blank rather than becoming zero.
Public country-level data only
The browser sends country codes and indicator codes to a same-origin route, which requests the public World Bank API. No uploaded files, personal notes, accounts or location history are stored.

Where does the data come from?
The values come from selected World Bank Open Data indicators. The latest comparison shows the latest numeric value available for each country; the trend view shows each indicator's latest ten-year window. GDP per capita is expressed in current US dollars, not purchasing power parity (PPP). The tool is a comparison of selected indicators, not an overall country ranking.
Why are the years different across countries?
Countries and indicators are updated at different times. The latest comparison may therefore show different years. The trend view aligns each indicator's data by year; use the shared year selector in the charts or inspect the annual tables. Selecting a year does not guarantee that every country or indicator has a value for it.
What does a blank value mean?
The selected country, indicator and year have no available numeric value. Neither view estimates, interpolates or replaces missing data with zero. A ten-year window does not mean that every country has ten valid annual values.
Can I use this for a report?
It is useful for quick context and first-pass comparison. For formal work, cite the original World Bank indicator, check the dataset license and metadata, and confirm definitions because indicators can have methodological notes.
