The validator normalizes the input into seven body digits plus one check digit, with slashes and parentheses used only as readable separators. The first digit is also interpreted as the resident category, such as permanent resident, non-permanent resident, or non-resident worker.
The check digit is recalculated by multiplying the seven body digits by weights 1 through 7 and taking the sum modulo 10. Randomly generated BIR values follow those public rules for QA and learning, but they are not official records and must not be used for impersonation or identity verification. The entered value can be included in a share URL, so use sample data before copying links.
